Voice
2018 - 2023
During my time as a Backend Developer at Moshi I was approached by both Amazon and Google with requests that I work on voice first skills for their platforms.
In both instances it was early on in these products’ life and it was exciting to be part of the initial wave of developers working with these new platforms. (I was even sent a goodie bag by Google for being involved!)
The Alexa Skill was developed in javascript running on Lambda. The Google Assistant application was developed in a very similar way, using javascript and GCP Cloud Functions and DialogFlow.
For both of these voice applications it was important that existing users were able to connect their accounts, and importantly their subscriptions in order to access all of the available content. By integrating the Moshi APIs into both skills many of the features of the native mobile applications became available to voice only devices - Audio streaming, content recommendation, user profiles etc.
Both the Alexa skill and Google Assistant application were among the highest performers at the time of development, bringing in revenue and importantly sparking new interest in the Moshi Kids platform.
